{"id":18035,"date":"2019-11-15T11:11:47","date_gmt":"2019-11-15T02:11:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bhn.or.jp\/english\/?page_id=18035"},"modified":"2025-09-01T16:30:15","modified_gmt":"2025-09-01T07:30:15","slug":"development","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bhn.or.jp\/english\/activity\/development\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Development"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"supporter\">\n<section class=\"supporter\">\n<h2 class=\"orange\">&#8220;Backpack Radio&#8221; project<\/h2>\n<section class=\"supporter\"><strong>Addressing the changing challenges of global disaster risk reduction by small radio stations.<\/strong><br \/>\nFor Indonesians suffering from volcanic eruptions every year, a portable radio station called \u201cBackpack Radio\u201d was developed. \uff08It consists of an FM transmitter with antenna, battery and solar panel. The radio station starts in 10 minutes and can broadcast news and music using a dedicated smartphone app.)<br \/>\nEight sets of equipment were provided and used effectively during the recovery of the 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake and 2017 \uff0d 2019 Mt. Bali Agung eruption.<br \/>\nThe goal is to provide \u201cbackpack radio\u201d to community radio stations in the mountain area from January 31 to December 25, 2017.<br \/>\nA workshop for Merapi and other broadcasting staff were held in Indonesia and to raise the funds to procure the equipment, a crowdfunding campaign were held. The local governments announced the temporary housing estates integration plan that the temporary housing estates will be divided into two types (to be terminated or to be continued) . BHN would continue support activities for the remaining temporary housing estates.
