Q: What is a Community Radio Station?

A: A small - scale municipal FM radio broadcast station with a lower output than normal FM.
In peacetime, it broadcasts local topics and music. Under such disastrous situations like earthquakes they broadcast detailed information closely connected to the community. It has been great help for the victims of recent disasters.


Q: What is ICT?

A: ICT is a general name for information processing and communications technology that makes use of various kinds of computers, including not just PCs, but also smartphones and smart speakers. “IT (information technology)” is a well known abbreviation, and ICT is IT with the element of communications included.


Q: What is a CA system?

A: CA system stands for “Community Addressing System.”
CA system is used in case of an emergency to provide relevant and useful information for the people in the disaster-stricken area.
BHN configures and provides systems that convey information to local residents at the same time using loud - speakers. The systems are similar to municipal emergency radio broadcasting systems used in Japan.


Q: What is Backpack Radio?

A: A Backpack Radio is station that can be carried in a backpack. It consists of an FM transmitter, an antenna and a solar panel. Using a smartphone application, a person with a backpack radio can broadcast information about recovery and people’s well-being, as well as airing music, even from a shelter immediately after disaster strikes.


Q: What is Solar Power Generation?

A: “Solar power is the conversion of energy from sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV), indirectly using concentrated solar power, or a combination. Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam.
