Season’s Greetings and Best Wishes for the New Year.
Beside the Covid-19, there have been various kinds of issues emerging in the world.

First one is climate change.  It is commonly understood that the sub-systems on this   planet are approaching the tipping points at which the environment cannot be restored.  In spite of the hard reality of soaring prices of fossil fuel, we must take every possible action to achieve the target 1.5℃.

Second one is the rapid progress of digital revolution. Digital technology is a key to solve the emerging issues.  Simultaneously we are observing the big changes in the labour market and the way of working.  The remote work is becoming so popular that it is not likely we will return to the conventional workstyle such as long-time commuting. At the initial stage of pandemic, the government tried to keep employment as much as possible. Though we are still in the pandemic, we are facing the shortage of workers and then supply chain disruption. It is also understood that human capital investment is quite important and the demand for reskilling are huge.

Third one is the crisis of the democracy.  The democratic political systems in Myanmar and Afghanistan collapsed. The conflict between the democratic countries and the authoritarian countries has intensified.  BHN is politically neutral, however, it is not easy to deliver the necessary aid to the distressed people in the political turbulence. The maximum care has been taken in relation to the security as well as infection.

In the year 2022 BHN will celebrate the 30th anniversary.  It is sometimes said that the life span of an ordinary organization is 30 years. BHN must accept the new reality and adjust ourselves to the new environment flexibly by utilizing new idea and technology.  For the next 30 years we will continue to move forward together.

We look forward to your continued support to BHN in 2022.
